Why do you dance? (DMT)

So this took me some time as I wasn't sure what I wanted to further my dance research in... and BOOM! it hit me.

I teach a beginners heels class for women that have lost confidence in themselves or that have had kids and want to dance for themselves again, or for a better word 'self-recognition'.

So after weeks of searching and not getting anywhere I emailed my old college teacher for some help, she then she asked me why I love to dance... in which I explained the power it gives me, to show emotion without saying a word. She then asked what I want to gain/teach from dance, and again I explained how I use dance to escape the outside world and I feel that it could help people around me... Lastly she explained that I already knew where I wanted to go with my research, it just took someone that knew me, as a student to ask me a simple question. Why do you Dance?

After speaking with my old teacher I then decide to look into dance as a therapy and how dance can change a persons life for example, dealing with mental health or helping the younger generation with their emotions with a safe way to express them.

  1. Hi Danielle, I enjoyed the simplicity of the question your friend asked... why do you love to dance? It makes you go back to basics and look at why you do something and what it does for you. I did a blog about creativity after watching a TED Talk about how important it is to have the arts and use different ways to express yourself, take a look here https://swattsonstage.blogspot.com
